A WordPress site your team can run, built by people who also secure it.
EDG.tech designs and builds WordPress websites for Maryland and DC-area businesses that want to edit their own pages, publish their own posts, and sell online, without inheriting the slow, insecure, plugin-heavy site many agencies hand over. Every build starts with a design you approve before any code is written. It ships with performance, SEO and AEO/GEO hardening, and security configured by a company that runs a 24/7 security operation, and it ends with full ownership and training. Projects start at $3,000.
Who WordPress is for, and who it isn't
Choose WordPress if your team will change content often and wants to do it without calling anyone; you need a blog with several authors, an online store, online booking, a members-only area, or a franchise or brand template you're required to use; or you already have a WordPress site with content and rankings worth keeping and you want it fixed.
Look at a static build if your site changes a few times a year, speed and security matter more than self-editing, and you'd like to stop thinking about plugin updates. That's our Eleventy service. Compare the two
How a WordPress project runs at EDG.tech
Four chapters. You'll know which one you're in and what comes next.
Review: we look before we quote
Before we propose anything, we review what you have. If there's an existing site, we run it the way Google and an AI assistant see it: load speed on a phone, accessibility errors, which pages rank and bring traffic (so we don't lose them), how your business facts read across Google, Yelp, and the directories, and what ChatGPT, Gemini, and Copilot say when asked “tell me about [your company].” On WordPress sites we also check the quiet risks: outdated plugins, exposed version numbers, missing backups, and whether your email runs on the same hosting, which is the most common cause of a migration outage.
You get: a plain-English review with scores, screenshots, and a short list of what's worth keeping, what's hurting you, and what it would take to fix. Free, and useful whether or not you hire us.
Consult: the plan before the project
Then we sit down, usually once, for an hour. Our discovery questionnaire turns the conversation into a plan: who approves decisions, what the site has to make visitors do, which pages you need and who writes them, what connects to it (CRM, booking, email, payments), what your industry requires (HIPAA-adjacent forms, licensing display, ADA), and who maintains it after launch. We map every old URL to a new one so your rankings move with you.
You get: a fixed-scope proposal with a sitemap, a content plan with a name next to every page, a migration and risk checklist, a timeline with sign-off dates, and a price.
Build: you approve the design before we build it
Design comes first, in a live prototype you can click through and comment on, so the finished site matches the picture in your head. Once approved, we build on a staging site you can watch: responsive on every screen size, caching and image optimization from day one, a small and current plugin set, firewall and malware scanning, SSL, daily backups, and structured data on every page so Google and AI engines understand who you are and what you offer. Before launch we test accessibility, speed, forms, and redirects, then move your DNS with your email untouched.
You get: a pixel-perfect WordPress site, all logins and files in your name, a training session for your team, and two weeks of post-launch fixes included.
Optimize: a website is never finished
The sites that win are the ones somebody keeps improving. Our care plans keep WordPress updated and backed up, monitor security and uptime, and send a monthly report that leads with leads and branded searches rather than raw traffic. Quarterly, we refresh your most important pages, ask the AI assistants about your business again to see whether you're being recommended, and tell you what to publish next. Need content, local SEO, or a new landing page? Same team, same plan.
You get: a site that stays fast and keeps getting found, and one accountable partner for anything web.

WordPress questions, answered
Will I be able to edit the site myself?
Yes. That's the main reason to choose WordPress. You get full admin access, a recorded training session, and a build that holds up when you change a headline. Most clients handle day-to-day edits and call us for anything structural.
Can you fix my existing WordPress site instead of rebuilding it?
Often, yes. The free review tells us whether your site is worth keeping. If the design, content, and rankings are sound but it's slow or insecure, a tune-up costs far less than a rebuild, and we'll say so. Website audit
How long does a WordPress website take?
A 5–10 page Essentials build typically launches in 4–6 weeks from approved design; larger sites and e-commerce run 8–12 weeks. The most common delay is content, which is why the plan names who writes every page.
Why is EDG.tech's WordPress more secure than other agencies'?
Unmaintained WordPress is what gets hacked. We build on a small, current plugin set, add firewall and malware scanning, protect the login, back up daily, and monitor it under a care plan, with the same discipline we use running a 24/7 security operation for our managed IT clients.
Do I own the website?
Completely. Hosting, domain, logins, and files are in your name at launch. If you ever leave, you take everything with you.
