Find out what's wrong with your website, and exactly who can fix it.
An EDG.tech website audit reads every page of your site the way Google, your customers, and AI assistants do, then sorts each finding by who can correct it: what your own team can fix today, what only your platform or agency can change, and what is slowing the site down. You get a plain-English report with evidence for every claim, a prioritized roadmap, and, if someone else controls your site, a document written so they can act on it. Audits start at $1,500, and the fee is credited toward any repair work with us.
Who the audit is for, and who it isn't
Book an audit if your site is slow, not ranking, or quietly broken and nobody can tell you why; you don't control your own website because a franchisor, a platform vendor, or a former agency does, and you need a clear, fair record of what needs fixing and by whom; you're deciding between repairing what you have and starting over; or you're responsible for a network of sites and want one consistent, evidence-based review across all of them.
How an audit runs at EDG.tech
Review → Consult → Repair → Optimize. The same four chapters as every EDG.tech web project; this one starts with the site you have.
Review: every page, twice, by hand
We start with the free review, a scored snapshot of speed, accessibility, search visibility, and what AI assistants say about your business. If the snapshot shows real problems, the full audit goes deeper. We crawl every URL in your sitemap and the pages that aren't in it. We read each one as a visitor and as a crawler: titles, descriptions, canonicals, redirects, structured data, headings, images, scripts, forms, and the words themselves, including a spelling and grammar pass over every unique word on the site. We run Google's own speed test on your key pages against a benchmark. For local businesses, we run real searches for your towns and services and record where you appear. Then we re-check every finding in a live browser before it goes in the report, because a report you can't verify is an opinion.
You get: findings with evidence: the URL, what we saw, and when we saw it.
Consult: sorted by who can fix it
This is the part most audits skip, and the part that makes ours useful. Every finding goes into one of three groups: content and page settings that anyone with an editor login could correct today; platform and template issues that only the theme, server, or page-generation system can change; and performance, meaning what is making the site slow. Each group is ordered by impact. We walk you through it in an hour, in plain terms, and tell you where we'd start. If your site is run by a franchisor, a vendor, or an agency, we write the report for them: specific and verifiable, with a clear list of asks. That kind of document gets things fixed.
You get: a 10–15 page report (letter, the short version, the three categories, the asks, our method, an appendix), a prioritized roadmap, and a version you can hand to whoever holds the keys.
Repair: three ways forward
We fix it. If you control the site, we work the roadmap: content and settings first, then speed, then structure. Most audits turn into two to four weeks of repair work, and the audit fee comes off the invoice.
We fix what you control and brief your platform team on the rest. When a vendor or franchisor owns the template and server, we correct everything on the content side, hand their developers the platform items with evidence and a suggested order, and re-check their work when it lands. We've done this with platform teams before. The good ones appreciate a precise list, and the last one we worked with closed seven items in the first week.
We move you. If the audit shows the platform is the problem and you have the freedom to leave, we plan a migration that keeps every URL, ranking, and form, to WordPress you control or to a fast, secure static build.
You get: a fixed quote for whichever path fits, with no pressure toward the expensive one. Sometimes the honest answer is “fix these nine things and keep the site,” and we say so.
Optimize: the re-check is included
Thirty days after repairs land, ours or your platform team's, we re-run the speed tests, re-verify every finding, and for local sites re-run the search baseline, then report the change. Under a care plan that becomes a quarterly rhythm: top pages refreshed, speed and search health watched, AI assistants asked about your business again, and the next most valuable fix queued.
You get: a before-and-after you can show whoever paid for the site, and a site that keeps improving.
What the audit covers
- Technical SEO: titles, descriptions, canonicals, redirects, robots, sitemap hygiene, duplicate and doorway pages, heading structure, Open Graph.
- Structured data and AI readiness: Organization, LocalBusiness, Service, FAQ, and Breadcrumb schema; consistency of your business facts across the web; what ChatGPT, Gemini, and Copilot say about you today.
- Content: thin or duplicated copy, missing local facts (address, hours, map), spelling and grammar across every unique word, calls to action that leave your site, reviews not surfaced.
- Performance: Google PageSpeed Insights on mobile and desktop, Core Web Vitals, third-party scripts, image weight and formats, caching, with a benchmark site for comparison.
- Accessibility: automated WCAG checks on key pages, with a full manual ADA audit available as an add-on. ADA compliance
- Local search (local businesses): live searches across your service area for your core services, recorded by town, so you know where you appear.
- Security surface (WordPress sites): exposed versions, outdated or abandoned plugins, login protection, backups, SSL, reviewed by a company that runs a 24/7 security operation.

Audit questions, answered
How is this different from a free SEO tool report?
Automated tools list symptoms. We read every page by hand, re-verify every finding in a live browser, benchmark your speed against a comparable site, run real searches in your market, and sort each finding by who can fix it, which no tool does. The result is a plan you can act on.
What if I don't control my own website?
That is the situation the audit was designed for. Franchisees, businesses on vendor-run platforms, and owners whose old agency still holds the keys get a report written for the people who do have access: specific and verifiable, with a prioritized list of asks. In our experience that gets more fixed, faster, than frustration does.
Will you work with our platform vendor or agency?
Yes, and we'd rather. We hand their team evidence and a suggested order, answer their questions, and re-check their work when it lands. Good platform teams want a precise list; we've seen one close seven items within a week of receiving ours.
Will the audit tell me to rebuild my site?
Only if the evidence does. Many audits end with “fix these things and keep it.” When the platform itself is the problem, we'll say so and show you the options (repair in place, repair plus a vendor brief, or a planned migration) with costs side by side.
How long does an audit take?
The free review takes a few days. A Website Audit is typically delivered in one to two weeks; a Full Site Assessment in two to three weeks, because the search baseline and second crawl take time. The re-check happens 30 days after repairs land.
